Your fast track to JLPT and Japanese, built by people who teach it.
The JLPT preparation platform built by Coto Japanese Academy — the school that has taught Japanese to more than 10,000 people in Japan and Online since 2000.
A Japanese Language School First
The teaching team behind J-STANDARD is Coto Japanese Academy — teaching Japanese since 2000, across five schools in Tokyo and Yokohama. We’re not a tech company that decided to sell Japanese lessons; we’re a school that finally built the tool our own students kept asking for.
To build it, we worked with Teratomo, a well-known development company specialized in software — turning our curriculum into a platform that’s fast, clear, and genuinely good to use.

Why We Built J-STANDARD
Ask any JLPT learner what they’re using to study, and you’ll get a list, not an answer.
One app for kanji. Another for grammar. A ten-year-old textbook. A spreadsheet holding it all together. Almost every student we’ve ever taught has built something like this — because nothing else covered the whole exam in one place.
“I don’t know if what I’m doing is working.”
That’s the sentence we heard most, in twenty-five years of teaching. Not “the test is too hard” — something more specific: no way to tell, day to day, whether the hours were adding up to a pass.
So we built the one tool we wished existed — grammar, vocabulary, kanji, reading and listening, taught as a single system, with your progress in front of you the whole way.
Available wherever you’re studying from — Japan, or US, Europe or wherever a visa or a job is pulling you next. Japanese proficiency is being asked for more often every year.
A Curriculum That’s Already Proven
Our JLPT curriculum isn’t new — it’s the same one Coto Academy has taught in Tokyo classrooms for over two decades. In 2025, students who studied it passed the JLPT at more than double the national average (74.76% vs. 35.06%). J-STANDARD puts that same curriculum in your hands, wherever you’re studying from.
